It’s pumpkin-picking season. In the spirit of fall, Sportsnet’s Ryan Dixon identifies some over-performers that may be due to come back down to earth in his weekly power rankings.

Ryan Dixon of Sportsnet evaluated all 32 NHL teams in his latest power rankings, analyzing players across the league whose hot October starts may or may not be sustainable over the full season. The Carolina Hurricanes topped the rankings with a 10-2-2 record, led in net by Pyotr Kochetkov's 8-0-0 start.
Dixon highlighted several surprising individual performances, including Vasily Podkolzin scoring eight goals in 13 games for the Edmonton Oilers and Artturi Lehkonen netting 10 goals for the Colorado Avalanche. At the bottom of the rankings, the rebuilding Vancouver Canucks sat 32nd despite four goals in four games from Jonathan Lekkerimaki.
