The Los Angeles Lakers are playing it safe, leaning on superstar guard Luka Doncic in the second half of a back-to-back.

The Los Angeles Lakers have ruled out superstar guard Luka Doncic for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to back tightness. According to The Athletic's Dan Woike, the franchise is taking a cautious approach during a heavy stretch featuring five games across seven days, and there is no long-term concern regarding his health.
Doncic has averaged 36.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists through the first four games of the 2026-27 season. The Lakers are managing his workload following a 136-129 defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, with upcoming games scheduled against the Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat.
