The Houston Astros appear close to ending their search for a new general manager, assuming that Matt Kleine actually takes the job.

The Houston Astros are targeting Milwaukee Brewers assistant general manager Matt Kleine to become their next general manager, according to a report by The Athletic's Chandler Rome. Houston has been searching for a new executive to lead their front office following the firing of former GM Dana Brown. While Kleine is considered the team's top choice, negotiations have not yet been finalized.
Potential delays in completing the deal may stem from the Brewers' participation in the World Series. Kleine has spent nearly two decades with Milwaukee, accumulating extensive experience in scouting, roster construction, and trade negotiations. Other candidates considered for the vacant position included Brad Ausmus, Mike Rizzo, Josh Barfield, and Matt Klentak.
