Right-hander Corbin Burnes will not take the opt-out chance in his contract with the Diamondbacks, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today. He will make $35MM annually through the 2030 season, though $11MM is deferred annually. More to come.

Right-hander Corbin Burnes will not exercise the opt-out clause in his contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. The decision keeps Burnes under his six-year, $210 million deal signed in December 2024, earning $35 million annually through the 2030 season, with $11 million deferred per year.
Burnes has spent significant time sidelined across the first two seasons of the contract due to Tommy John surgery, a teres major strain, and shoulder inflammation. He made just three starts in September 2026 before being shut down again, but he is slated to return to Arizona's starting rotation for the 2027 season.
