Aaron Ashby, Landry Shamet connection is shared thread in magical Brewers, Knicks runs

Writer Adam Weinrib highlights how childhood best friends Aaron Ashby and Landry Shamet served as vital contributors to historic championship runs for the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Knicks. Both athletes, who attended Park Hill High School together in the Kansas City area, overcame career setbacks to deliver standout postseason performances for their respective franchises just months apart.

Ashby delivered 18 scoreless innings with 20 strikeouts during the Brewers' 2026 postseason title run under manager Pat Murphy. Meanwhile, Shamet emerged as a key sixth man during the Knicks' 2025-26 championship campaign, shooting 11-of-12 from three-point range during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
