Joshua Kimmich has returned to Bayern Munich's Säbener Straße training ground ahead of the upcoming Der Klassiker clash against Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder had been away from the squad for the past week following the passing of his father. Upon arriving at the training ground on Thursday, Kimmich was seen greeting supporters, signing autographs, and taking photos ahead of the weekend fixture.
During his absence, Kimmich missed Bayern's 2-2 draw with Arsenal, a 3-1 league victory over SC Freiburg, and a 6-1 DFB-Pokal triumph against FC Magdeburg. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany and the club previously supported Kimmich taking all necessary time away. However, reports indicate he is expected to rejoin the matchday squad as Bayern and Dortmund face off level on points at the top of the Bundesliga table.
