Aakash Chopra feels Varun Chakaravarthy will remain on the bench for India's fourth T20I against New Zealand at Eden Park, citing the team's reluctance to compromise batting depth on a grassy pitch.
Cricket analyst Aakash Chopra predicts that spinner Varun Chakaravarthy is unlikely to feature in India's fourth T20I against New Zealand at Eden Park. India currently leads the five-match series 3-0 heading into the match in Auckland. Chopra noted that team management remains reluctant to compromise on batting depth at the number eight position, leaving Chakaravarthy sidelined despite the series already being decided.
Chopra highlighted that Eden Park's shorter straight boundaries and grassy surface strongly favor pace bowling, making three fast bowlers necessary. While Axar Patel has served as the primary spinner throughout the series, both Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav have stayed on the bench. Chakaravarthy has struggled for rhythm over the past six months and has lacked recent international match exposure.
