The Story in 60 Seconds

Portsmouth supporters have been warned of severe travel disruption caused by HS2 engineering works ahead of Saturday's match against Burnley at Turf Moor. Up to 2,000 away fans are expected to make the 280-mile trip, but closures on the M42 will affect routes connecting to the M6 and M6 Toll.

The M42 northbound between junctions 6 and 9 will be fully closed from Friday night until Monday morning, alongside southbound closures between junctions 9 and 7. Drivers have been advised to set off early and consider alternative routes via the M1, A46, or M5 to bypass Birmingham gridlock.
