GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Owen Carey has one word on his mind a lot. Jumpy. Finding the right balance between the positive and negative sides of that adjective has been one of the defining parts of his life dating back to…

Atlanta Braves outfield prospect Owen Carey is excelling in the Arizona Fall League by learning to control his plate discipline and tone down his high-energy approach. The 20-year-old outfielder is riding a six-game hitting streak for the Glendale Desert Dogs, going 10-for-23 with two triples and seven walks during that span. He lowered his swing rate from 56 percent in his first six games to 46 percent over the subsequent stretch.
Carey previously rebounded from a right heel infection that sidelined him early in the season with High-A Rome before earning a promotion to Double-A Columbus. The Glendale Desert Dogs fell 13-10 to Peoria at Camelback Ranch on Thursday, despite Carey contributing two hits, a double, and a walk.
