Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams took a significant step in his recovery this week when the team confirmed he underwent successful surgery on Wednesday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder announced that forward Jalen Williams has undergone surgery to repair a fractured left fibula and reconstructed ankle ligaments. Williams suffered the injury on October 25 during a victory against the Los Angeles Clippers and was taken off on a stretcher. Dr. Martin O'Malley performed the procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and the team stated that Williams will be reevaluated before the end of the 2026-27 regular season.
The timeline leaves his potential return date open, neither ruling him out for the season nor confirming a playoff return. Williams' absence creates a significant void in head coach Mark Daigneault's lineup alongside stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren. The Thunder are also managing the backcourt absence of guard Cason Wallace, who sustained a torn labrum in his left shoulder during the same contest.
