Red Wings prospect gets huge opportunity in Toledo, Grand Rapids

Detroit Red Wings goaltending prospect Carter Gylander is aiming to earn a full-time roster spot with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins this season. Drafted in the seventh round in 2019, the 6-foot-5 netminder chose to remain with Detroit despite competition from other prospects such as Sebastian Cossa, Trey Augustine, and Michal Postava. Gylander has split his early professional career between the Griffins and the ECHL's Toledo Walleye.

Author Katy Glaza highlights Gylander's persistence, noting his strong play and the positive impression he has made on Grand Rapids coaching staff and fans. Early in the current campaign, Gylander earned a 5-2 victory against the Cleveland Monsters with the Griffins while continuing to develop across both organizational affiliates.
