The Islanders’ blue-line unicorn continues to rewrite NHL history, surpassing legends like Bobby Orr while logging unprecedented ice time and clutch goals in a historic teenage campaign.

Matthew Schaefer set multiple franchise and NHL milestones after scoring two goals, including the overtime winner, in the New York Islanders' 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild. The performance extended the defenseman's point streak to six games, giving him 14 points through 12 contests this season.
Schaefer reached 73 career points, surpassing Bobby Orr and Scott Stevens for fifth place on the NHL's all-time teenage defenseman scoring list. He also tied Bryan Trottier for the most game-winning goals by an Islanders teenager with five, and became the youngest player in league history to log consecutive games with at least 30 minutes of ice time.
