Athletics slugger Brent Rooker is preparing for a normal offseason workload and aims to return fully healthy for the 2027 season. Rooker was limited to just 48 games in 2026 due to an oblique strain and subsequent season-ending arthroscopic knee surgery in July, finishing with a .200 batting average, 10 home runs, and 29 RBIs during a difficult 64-98 campaign for the team.
Rooker expressed optimism for the Athletics' future, noting strong performances by teammates Zack Gelof, Lawrence Butler, and emerging prospect Henry Bolte. After resuming batting practice and running before the regular season concluded, Rooker stated he feels strong, healthy, and ready to prepare for spring training.
