Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy benched rookie guard Darryn Peterson for the final seven minutes and overtime during a 117-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Peterson had scored 18 points in 26 minutes prior to being subbed out, with reserve wing Brice Sensabaugh taking his place down the stretch.
Hardy explained that the team needed better execution in crucial moments while expressing strong trust in Sensabaugh's scoring ability and fresh legs. Sensabaugh hit a key three-pointer to force overtime and subsequently scored all six of Utah's points in the extra period.
