The Red Roses arrived in New Jersey for their final WXV Global Series fixture of 2026 in an uncomfortable position.

England prop Sarah Bern views the Red Roses' consecutive losses to Canada as an opportunity to spark growth and evolve their playing style. The back-to-back defeats in Toronto and Ottawa ended England's 41-match unbeaten streak, marking their first consecutive losses in a decade. Speaking ahead of her 90th Test cap against the USA in New Jersey, Bern insisted the team is not broken but motivated to reset and develop new attacking approaches.
Bern noted that Canada had effectively designed a targeted game plan after England used similar tactical setups for four years. The squad is now focused on adaptation ahead of an upcoming six-month break and the 2027 Women's Six Nations. England also welcomed back scrum and contact coach Matt Ferguson to camp, while the USA prepares on a five-match winning streak under coach Jack Hanratty.
