Houston Astros relief pitcher Bryan Abreu has officially elected free agency following the conclusion of the team's 2026 season. After the Astros were swept by the Chicago White Sox in the Wild Card Series, MLB.com confirmed that the right-hander chose free agency on October 29. Abreu is now eligible to sign with any Major League Baseball team as an unrestricted free agent this winter.
Abreu spent the first eight years of his MLB career with Houston and won the World Series with the franchise in 2022. The 29-year-old finished the 2026 campaign with a 6-4 record and a 3.73 ERA across 66 appearances, rebounding strongly with a 1.00 ERA in the second half of the season.
