Zach Benson is playing at such a high level that it doesn't matter who he is playing with, that is going to be the best line of the night for the Buffalo Sabres.
Brandon Croce of Sabre Noise argues that the Buffalo Sabres' top line is defined by the presence of Zach Benson. Head coach Lindy Ruff recently altered the lineup by shifting Benson from a productive trio with Noah Ostlund and Jack Quinn to the top unit alongside Tage Thompson and Peyton Krebs, which immediately paid dividends during a game against the Anaheim Ducks.
Croce points out that Benson registered a goal and two assists against Anaheim as his new line combined for 11 points. Advanced metrics highlighted a stark drop in Ostlund and Quinn's shot-attempt percentages without Benson, underlining the young forward's critical two-way impact, forechecking ability, and playmaking across various forward combinations.
