First Period The New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights started this evening’s game a bit slowly, feeling each other out for a few shifts without a shot on goal. This all changed when the third line hit the ice…

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2 after rebounding strongly from an inconsistent opening frame. Luke Hughes opened the scoring for New Jersey before Vegas briefly took a 2-1 lead courtesy of goals from Mark Stone and Ivan Barbashev. Arseny Gritsyuk answered before the end of the first period to tie the game at 2-2.
New Jersey took complete control in the final two periods behind goals from Jack Hughes and a second tally from Gritsyuk. Jack Hughes sealed the 5-2 victory with an empty-net goal in the third period, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck delivered steady play in net to close out the win.
