Aston Villa have announced plans to take legal action against Carragher following his “unacceptable insults” about the club and its supporters.
Aston Villa has announced plans to initiate legal action against television pundit Jamie Carragher following offensive remarks directed at the club and its fanbase. The decision was confirmed in an official statement signed by Aston Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris on Friday evening, condemning what the club described as unacceptable insults.
Carragher made the comments on the Stick to Football podcast during a debate regarding whether manager Unai Emery should consider joining Manchester United. After arguing that football has an established hierarchy where Aston Villa sits below Manchester United, the former Liverpool defender told supporters to "shut the f*** up."
