The Giants announced that catcher Andrew Knizner has cleared waivers and been sent outright to Triple-A Sacramento. He has the right to elect free agency and will presumably do so. More to come.

The San Francisco Giants announced that catcher Andrew Knizner has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento. Knizner holds the right to elect free agency due to having over three years of major league service time and is expected to do so.
San Francisco signed Knizner in August to cover injuries behind the plate, and he went on to hit .219/.288/.356 across 29 games. The outright move clears a 40-man roster spot as the Giants manage roster limits ahead of players returning from the 60-day injured list.
