Shakur Stevenson has officially signed with Zuffa Boxing, immediately declaring himself the new promotion’s top athlete. The undefeated champion believes his signing sets a new standard and predicts other elite boxers will soon follow him to the emerging organisation.
Stevenson joins a growing roster that includes cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia, Richardson Hitchins, and Edgar Berlanga. But the American fighter is confident in his own standing within the new stable. He stated his belief directly to Zuffa management upon signing. “I feel like I’m the best fighter on their roster, as I told them when I seen them,” Stevenson said. His arrival provides Dana White’s boxing venture with one of its most significant and decorated signings to date.
The decision was guided by his management team, who secured what the champion described as a “life-changing” agreement. Stevenson confirmed the business rationale was straightforward. “My team went out there and they found the best available deal for me,” he said, also noting the “genuine vibes” from meetings with Dana White and Turki Alalshikh.
Now, Stevenson sees his role as foundational to Zuffa’s future success in the sport. He expects his decision to create a path for other high-profile fighters who may be considering a move away from traditional promoters. “It’s going to be a lot of big things with this. I feel like it’s going to be setting their example, and a lot of people going to follow my lead. I’m going to enjoy that. Trendsetter, baby,” Stevenson explained.
