The Tampa Bay Rays have declined their mutual contract options for starting pitcher Nick Martinez and center fielder Cedric Mullins, sending both players into free agency. Martinez held a $20 million mutual option that included a $4 million buyout from Tampa Bay, while Mullins had a $10 million option for 2027 paired with a $500,000 buyout.
Martinez enters free agency following a standout campaign where he posted a 15-6 record and a 3.10 ERA across 180 innings, serving as a clubhouse leader during Tampa Bay's run to an American League title. Mullins, who hit .205 with 15 home runs over 137 games during the regular season, saw his role diminish in the postseason behind Jonny DeLuca.
