SUNRISE, Fla. — Tyrel Bauer looked like hell.

The Winnipeg Jets suffered their eighth consecutive defeat on Friday night, falling 5-2 to the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena. Head coach Scott Arniel's squad fell behind amid struggles on special teams, dropping to a 4-7-3 record on the season after opening 3-0-1. Panthers center Anton Lundell paced Florida with a hat trick, while Seth Jones and Sam Reinhart each contributed goals to deepen Winnipeg's skid.
Winnipeg's offense produced goals from Kyle Connor and Morgan Barron, but defensive miscues and penalties proved costly. Goaltender Nico Daws made his first start for the Jets, turning aside 33 of 37 shots in the loss. Rookie Tyrel Bauer provided an early spark with a heavyweight fight against Bokondji Imama and skated shifts at forward, but Winnipeg was unable to halt its slide as comparisons mounted to last season's 11-game winless drought.
