A weekly lap around the NHL by Free Press hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe…

The Winnipeg Jets have hired Matt Larke as the organization's first full-time skills coach. The 39-year-old Michigan native, who has worked closely with Jets forward Kyle Connor during off-season skates, joins head coach Scott Arniel's staff to work individually with players through on-ice development and video sessions.
Larke previously consulted for four years with the Seattle Kraken and coached with the U.S. National Team Development Program and Flint Firebirds. Connor, former Jets head coach Dave Lowry, and Kraken general manager Jason Botterill all served as references to help Larke secure the newly created role.
