A former Premier League striker earned huge sums at the height of his career before having to take on a £400-a-week job cleaning toilets.

Former Premier League striker Kevin Kyle took a job earning £400 a week as a ship storeman, cleaning toilets and stacking stock, to provide for his family near the end of his football career. Kyle, who previously played for Sunderland and Coventry City, struggled with a severe gambling addiction that saw him routinely wager £7,000 per week during his highest-earning playing days.
After retiring following a final match with Newton Stewart, Kyle later drove taxis before rebuilding his career as a media personality on the Open Goal podcast and serving as a mental health speaker.
