The heralded POWERLINE (c, 2, Flightline–Park Avenue, by Quality Road) continued his habit of missing the break Saturday in the Keeneland opener but still rallied from the back impressively to become a 'TDN Rising Star' to kick off the Breeders'…

Two-year-old colt Powerline earned the "TDN Rising Star" designation after rallying to win the opening race on Breeders' Cup Saturday at Keeneland. Despite missing the break and spotting the field several lengths, the son of Flightline raced wide and surged late under jockey Flavien Prat to defeat runner-up Highwayman.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, Powerline was making his third career start after prior runner-up and off-the-board finishes behind graded stakes performers. The colt was purchased for $1.8 million as a yearling and is owned by a partnership including West Point Thoroughbreds, John C. Oxley, Summer Wind Equine, and Bee Zee.
