The Clippers let Bennedict Mathurin walk away over the summer, and his sluggish start with the New Orleans Pelicans backs them up.

Iliyan Lakhani of Clipperholics argues that Bennedict Mathurin's slow start with the New Orleans Pelicans justifies the LA Clippers' controversial offseason decision to let him walk. After leaving Los Angeles, the 24-year-old guard signed an $8 million annual contract with the Pelicans.
According to Lakhani, Mathurin's struggles stem from inconsistent outside shooting and limited playmaking. Through his first several games of the 2026-27 season, Mathurin is averaging career lows of 7.8 points and 2.6 rebounds while logging 20 minutes or fewer per game for a 1-4 Pelicans squad.
