Liverpool are taking shape at the start of a new era.

Angus Sinclair of Football FanCast argues that Liverpool have already secured their future captain in defender Jeremy Jacquet to eventually succeed Virgil van Dijk. With 35-year-old Van Dijk out of contract at the end of the season, Sinclair suggests that the club's owners, FSG, could allow the veteran Dutch center-back to leave next summer.
Sinclair contends that Jacquet, signed from Rennes for £60m, possesses the maturity, leadership qualities, and world-class potential to take over the armband. While vice-captain Dominik Szoboszlai remains an alternative choice, Jacquet's early-season performances alongside Van Dijk demonstrate his potential to become Liverpool's long-term talisman.
