The Story in 60 Seconds

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that cornerback L'Jarius Sneed has been placed on injured reserve. To fill Sneed's spot on the 53-man active roster, the team signed cornerback Melvin Smith from the practice squad. Kansas City will also elevate defensive end Tyreke Smith from the practice squad for their upcoming game.

Sneed returned to Kansas City this season after an injury-plagued two-year tenure with the Tennessee Titans. After starting four games to open the season, Sneed saw reduced playing time and was eventually benched over the past two weeks. The Chiefs have not indicated that the injury is season-ending, leaving open the possibility of a late-season return.
