After finishing dead last in free throws last season, the Boston Celtics are suddenly top-5 in the NBA at getting to the line. Here's what's driving the surge.

The Boston Celtics have turned an offseason free-throw concern into a major strength, ranking fifth in the NBA with 28.8 attempts per game through five contests. Despite finishing last in the league with 18.7 attempts per game last season and subsequently trading Jaylen Brown, Boston has generated sustained rim pressure and foul calls early in the campaign.
Writer Ben Handler credits aggressive play from Jayson Tatum, Payton Pritchard, and Neemias Queta, alongside improved screening and off-ball movement. Handler suggests that while early numbers may normalize, remaining near the middle of the pack would significantly elevate Boston's offense.
