Canelo Alvarez Should Not Fight Hamzah Sheeraz Next

Chris Williams of Boxing News 24 criticizes Hamzah Sheeraz for campaigning for a lucrative bout against Canelo Alvarez. Sheeraz expressed his desire to test himself against Alvarez following a recent majority decision victory over Simon Zachenhuber. However, Williams argues that Sheeraz has not earned the fight, highlighting his refusal to face Osleys Iglesias and criticizing his past title defenses and vacated belts.

According to Williams, sources indicate a 65% to 75% chance that Alvarez will fight Sheeraz next, supported by organizers in Riyadh. Williams contends the matchup represents a safe commercial choice rather than a competitive challenge, noting that alternative opponents like Terence Crawford, Jaron Ennis, or Dmitry Bivol would offer far greater entertainment for boxing fans.
