Ireland have issued a positive update on Sam Prendergast as the Leinster out-half continues his race against time to prove his fitness for Friday's Nations Championship Northern Series opener against Argentina.

Ireland management has issued a positive injury update on out-half Sam Prendergast ahead of Friday's Nations Championship Northern Series opener against Argentina at the Aviva Stadium. The 23-year-old Leinster playmaker suffered a wrist injury during training last week, but the squad confirmed that he continues to improve and coaches remain optimistic he will be available for selection.
Prendergast is considered the frontrunner for Ireland's No. 10 jersey under head coach Andy Farrell following a long-term injury to Munster's Jack Crowley. If Prendergast is ruled out, Connacht back Ciaran Frawley could step in, while Jimmy O'Brien has already resumed full training with the squad.
