TRANSFER NEWS: Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi will depart the Sharks with immediate effect and return to the Stormers after leaving the Cape side in 2021.

Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi has departed the Sharks with immediate effect to rejoin the Stormers, five years after leaving the Cape Town side in 2021. Stormers Director of Rugby John Dobson confirmed the permanent transfer on Tuesday. The 35-year-old veteran will report for duty immediately on Wednesday.
Mbonambi's departure follows disciplinary issues at the Sharks tied to alleged team misconduct during a pre-season camp. His return comes as the Stormers face an injury crisis at hooker and the suspension of JJ Kotze ahead of their United Rugby Championship fixture against Ulster.
