Lebanon and France have produced one of the wildest games in World Cup history with the Cedars scoring a game-winner in golden point in the most dramatic of fashion.
Lebanon defeated France 24-20 in a dramatic Rugby League World Cup match that concluded in golden point extra time. France fullback Arthur Mourgue had forced extra time with a late two-point field goal to tie the score at 20-20. France subsequently thought they had secured victory via a field goal, but the video referee disallowed it due to an escort penalty.
Following a missed 48-meter penalty attempt by Lebanon's Alex Conti, Mourgue caught the ball and attempted an audacious kick from deep in his own territory instead of taking a tackle. Lebanon back-rower Abbas Miski intercepted the kick in mid-air and ran 15 meters to score the match-winning try, prompting former Origin star Aaron Woods to express his shock at the chaotic finish.
