The NFL has fined Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch $23,882 for unnecessary roughness involving impermissible use of the helmet during a collision with Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft. The incident occurred during the first quarter of Detroit's 20-17 victory over Green Bay on October 25. While on-field officials did not flag Branch during the game, the league's accountability report confirmed the retrospective financial punishment on Saturday, October 31.
Additional disciplinary measures were issued from the same game, including fines for Detroit linebacker Derrick Barnes, Packers cornerback Brandon Cisse, and Packers safety Xavier McKinney. McKinney was fined $25,000 for publicly criticizing game officials following the narrow defeat.
