Tom Nolan told reporters that he never asked referee Dan Miragliotta to stand him and Renato Moicano up before the controversial UFC Vegas 123 finish.

Tom Nolan clarified that he did not ask referee Dan Miragliotta for a standup prior to his controversial TKO victory over Renato Moicano at UFC Vegas 123. During the fight, Moicano took Nolan's back and sought a rear-naked choke before Miragliotta intervened to stand the fighters up. Nolan quickly capitalized on the restart to stop Moicano and earn a Performance of the Night bonus.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Nolan explained that he was only complaining to Miragliotta about illegal strikes to the back of his head. Nolan emphasized that he had nothing to do with the referee's choice to reset the action. The result extended Nolan's winning streak to six fights, while Moicano moved to 1-3 over his last four bouts.
