SF Giants lefty Sam Hentges came off injury and pitched alright for San Francisco even if more might have been expected of him.

Around the Foghorn's Nick San Miguel reviewed Sam Hentges' 2026 campaign with the San Francisco Giants, noting his return from injuries that sidelined him for the entire 2025 season left room for improvement. Hentges posted a 3.19 ERA and struck out 41 batters across 36 and 2/3 innings in 45 appearances, but he also issued 25 walks and finished with a 1-7 record.
San Miguel argues that Hentges should remain part of the Giants' 2027 bullpen plans, potentially as a low-leverage left-handed option. With MLB Trade Rumors projecting Hentges to earn $2 million in arbitration, the writer suggests the Giants should retain him and additionally pursue free agent left-hander JoJo Romero.
