Should pros be reinstated as amateurs? Trip Kuehne, one of the best amateurs, shared his thoughts on GOLF’s Subpar podcast.

Top amateur golfer Trip Kuehne shared his thoughts on whether professional golfers should be allowed to regain amateur status during an appearance on GOLF's "Subpar" podcast. Comparing the situation to minor league baseball, Kuehne suggested that players who never reached the highest level should be allowed to reclaim their amateur status.
For former PGA Tour players, Kuehne proposed evaluating eligibility based on career starts or retirement vesting rather than a hard ban. He noted that players who spent years on satellite tours are exceptionally difficult to beat, suggesting a cap somewhere between 50 and 75 professional starts.
