Nico Rosberg questioned George Russell's absence from the Mercedes team photo following Kimi Antonelli's coronation as Formula 1 world champion at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Russell did not attend the media pen and missed the pit lane celebration after finishing sixth. The result officially ended Russell's championship hopes and saw him drop to fourth in the standings behind race winner Max Verstappen and runner-up Lewis Hamilton.
Speaking on Sky F1, Rosberg advised Russell to reset mentally and focus on preparation for next season, calling his current situation alongside Antonelli scary. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff admitted the team let Russell down during the race due to an energy deployment issue at the start, which contributed to an opening-lap incident and a 10-second time penalty.
