Palace striker was sent off for bringing down Micky van de Ven…

Former Premier League referee Graham Barber stated that VAR correctly advised referee Michael Oliver to send off Jean-Philippe Mateta during Crystal Palace's match against Tottenham Hotspur. Mateta was shown a red card in the 13th minute after sliding into Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven and catching his Achilles.
Tottenham secured a 2-0 victory against the ten-man Eagles, with Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke scoring the goals. Barber emphasized that Mateta's challenge was dangerous, unnecessary, and clearly endangered the safety of the opponent.
