The Story in 60 Seconds

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Brandon Valenzuela missed out on winning the American League Gold Glove Award despite being named a finalist for his strong defensive performance. Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler claimed the honor for the second consecutive season, preventing Valenzuela from taking home the first Gold Glove of his career.

Valenzuela joined Toronto in a 2025 trade deadline deal with the San Diego Padres that sent Will Wagner in the other direction. After being called up in April 2026 following an injury to Alejandro Kirk, Valenzuela completed his first full major league campaign batting .226 with nine home runs and 24 RBIs.
