"Vrabes threw the flag over me, [I] saw it, I was like, 'oh snap!’”

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel explained his viral decision to heave a challenge flag during Sunday's 24-19 comeback victory over the Miami Dolphins. The forceful throw came in the third quarter after an apparent touchdown catch by Kyle Williams was initially ruled incomplete. Vrabel noted postgame that he threw the flag because he was far more certain of the touchdown than the officiating crew had been.
The challenge was successful, reversing the ruling on the field to confirm Williams's touchdown reception from quarterback Drake Maye. The long throw marked the second time this season Vrabel launched a challenge flag, following a similar incident during a preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts in August.
