The Story in 60 Seconds

Seattle Mariners second baseman Cole Young has won his first career Rawlings Gold Glove Award for the 2026 season. Young became only the third second baseman in franchise history to win the award, following Brett Boone's win in 2004. He is also the second player in Mariners history to win a Gold Glove in his age-22 season or younger, joining Ken Griffey Jr.

Young defeated finalists Chase Meidroth of the White Sox and Michael Massey of the Royals. He led all American League second basemen with 16 Defensive Runs Saved while recording a .990 fielding percentage across 160 games. The honor marked the 45th total Gold Glove Award in Mariners team history.
