The Story in 60 Seconds

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli will not receive direct Formula 1 prize money after securing the 2026 Drivers' Championship at the Mexico City Grand Prix. While Antonelli became the youngest champion in the sport's history at 20 years and 68 days, official championship prize funds are distributed exclusively to teams based on Constructors' Championship standings rather than directly to drivers.

Antonelli will instead earn an estimated $11 million performance bonus from Mercedes alongside his $2 million base salary. The Italian finished third in Mexico City behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton to seal the title, having accumulated nine race victories and 16 podium finishes throughout his sophomore campaign.
