NFL Coaching Hot Seat 2026: Who will be the next NFL coach fired? We rank the six NFL head coaches likeliest to be fired.

Sportsnaut's Matt Johnson ranks six NFL head coaches on the hot seat following Week 8 of the 2026 season. New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn tops the ranking as the most likely to be fired, driven by clock mismanagement, defensive struggles, and poor point differentials. Indianapolis Colts coach Shane Steichen ranks second following a 42-7 loss to Jacksonville and organizational changes after general manager Chris Ballard was fired.
The ranking also includes Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn, Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, and Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer. Johnson argues that despite varying levels of job security, historical success, or owner support, mounting losses and underperforming rosters make each of these six coaches vulnerable to dismissal by the end of the 2026 season.
