Connor McDavid started things off with a bang and Matt Tomkins secured his first win as an Edmonton Oiler. A happy result for the second game of back-to-backs.

Goaltender Matt Tomkins made his first start for the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday evening, leading the team to a road victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Despite playing on the second half of a back-to-back set, Tomkins stepped in admirably and stopped 27 of 28 shots to secure the win.
Sean Mallon highlights that Tomkins performed reliably while Frederik Andersen and Devon Levi remain on injured reserve and Tristan Jarry received scheduled rest. The Oilers will complete their road trip on Tuesday evening when they face the New Jersey Devils.
