Fiorentina manager Paolo Vanoli expressed his satisfaction after his side earned their first victory in a month and a half by defeating Sassuolo 4-2 at the Mapei Stadium. Mateo Pellegrino and Alieu Njie scored for the Viola before substitute Pedro Gonçalves assisted Franco Mastantuono's winning goal. Valdepeñas sealed the victory late in the match, while Armand Laurienté scored two goals for the hosts.
Vanoli stated that the result was long overdue, praising his young squad for learning from previous errors against Inter, Como, and Atalanta. The victory moved Fiorentina level on points with Sassuolo at eight points, creating a three-point cushion above the relegation zone. However, Vanoli cautioned that the team must address defensive vulnerabilities after conceding twice.
