About “Poor Communication and Respect” for Nikita Kucherov and Not the Money

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov addressed the media regarding his trade request, stating the decision stemmed from "poor communication and respect" rather than money. Kucherov confirmed he asked to be traded after general manager Julien BriseBois had only two conversations with him over four months and signaled he could leave in free agency on July 1.

Despite the trade request, Kucherov expressed gratitude for his 14 seasons and multiple championships in Tampa Bay, noting his teammates were the first to hear the news directly from him. While the situation remains unresolved, Kucherov emphasized that he remains committed to helping his teammates win games for the remainder of his time with the club.
