Key Things to Know
  • Brandon Aiyuk hired agent Drew Rosenhaus to help facilitate his return to playing in the NFL.
  • The Washington Commanders previously pursued a trade for Aiyuk and could re-enter discussions if he is reinstated.
  • Aiyuk must officially file for NFL reinstatement after being placed on San Francisco's reserve/left team list.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has hired agent Drew Rosenhaus to represent him as he attempts to return to playing in the NFL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rosenhaus confirmed he is actively working to get Aiyuk back onto the field. The development could put Aiyuk back in play for the Washington Commanders, who pursued him for months after a trade demand before failing to reach an agreement.

Aiyuk has not played in an NFL game since October 2024 and was placed on the reserve/left team list by the San Francisco 49ers after a rocky recovery from a knee injury. The 49ers still hold Aiyuk's rights after voiding an estimated $25 million to $27 million of his guaranteed money for 2026, meaning he must file for NFL reinstatement before potentially joining a new franchise.
