The idea of landing Nikita Kucherov looks pretty good, but there is a major reason why it doesn't work for the Colorado Avalanche.

Writer Nestor Quixtan argues that pursuing Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov is not a feasible option for the Colorado Avalanche. Although pairing Kucherov with Nathan MacKinnon is an enticing thought, Quixtan asserts that Kucherov's projected asking price would completely undermine Colorado's salary cap situation, making an acquisition unrealistic for the franchise.
Kucherov's contract expectations reportedly match the high benchmark set by Cale Makar's new deal. Quixtan notes the Avalanche will face significant salary cap constraints once Makar's extension begins, concluding that already having Martin Necas alongside MacKinnon makes passing on Kucherov's massive price tag a straightforward choice.
